The potato was chosen for the nutritional triad, because of its status in the work of Ray Peat as "almost the perfect food". According to him
potatoes have almost the perfect balance of nutrients.
One can hear him talk about this in this snippet of a Ray Peat interview from Eluv Radio 2014.
As potato lacks a little bit in it's content of vitamin A, and vitamin B 12. We tried researching which food had the highest combined content of both.
We discovered that beef liver was magically competent in this regard, and it was the perfect second addition to the triad.
A very important thing to Ray Peat was intuition. Being able to listen to the body, diving into the deep well of intelligence that lies inside ourselves.
He talks about this in this article. Purely based on intution, trying to dig as deep as
we could inside ourselves, we chose the wonderful broccoli as the last food for the triad.
